THE MITCHELL LIBRARY AND IASG
Many Members will already be aware of IASGs recently established partnership with The Mitchell, supported by Glasgow City Council, whereby the location is being developed as a centre of excellence and learning for the insurance industry in the West of Scotland.
It is also proposed to use the dedicated space for technical discussions forums and the like across all sectors of the industry. Indeed IASG has already re-located all of its activities to the new venue
The IASG project team are also in discussion with the CII HQ Learning Division on population of the proposed dedicated study area with suitable books and software. Access to the internet facilities at The Library (including wi-fi) will be free to all IASG members
At a recent CII/IASG prizewinners ceremony, Karen Cunningham, GCC Head of Libraries, commented:
We at The Mitchell are very excited by our new relationship with IASG which is very much in keeping with our initiative to improve accessibility to learning facilities and thereby improve the skill base within the City. Our refurbished ground floor facilities will further add to the attraction of The Mitchell via the provision of modern meeting space, free wi-fi and internet access all supported by contemporary caf/bistro facilities on site.
IASG will keep members informed as to progress on this exciting project that will help propel the Society firmly into the 21st century following a historic 125 years in existence since 1881 !!
