As a profession that relies totally on the quality of the people we employ, it is interesting that anecdotal feedback would suggest that the majority of us would appear not to have chosen insurance as our first career option.
Our product is totally centred around the person, whether in providing technical advice to our customers, assessing or pricing each risk faced or in dealing with the consequences of some accident or natural disaster. Our challenge as an industry is to ensure that we attract and retain our share of the brightest talent.
IASG are actively working to promote the benefits of a career within the insurance sector and have formed closer links with external agencies, such as Scottish Enterprise and Careers Scotland, to ensure our message is effectively spread to any potential new recruits.
Our aim is to make a career within our industry a first choice and not a default one!
