The IASG is your local Institute of the Chartered Insurance Institute and is the second oldest in the UK, having been formed after the first meeting of representatives of local assurance and actuarial offices in Glasgow in October 1881. The Society is still thriving today and with over 2500 members is one of the largest local Insurance Institutes in the UK.
During my presidential year I hope to achieve all the objectives I outlined within my speech at the AGM which will include the further development of the recently launched Study & Reference Centre within the Mitchell Library, increased activity with our network of Young Professionals and the launch of CII Face-to-Face Training within Glasgow, as well as the development and improvement of this website.
I am very much looking forward to meeting many members of our Institute over the coming year and of course also seeing familiar faces again. If you haven't attended any of our events previously please do try and come along, as new faces are always welcome and CPD points may be up for grabs!
We are always looking to compliment and expand our existing Council so please don't hesitate to contact me or other members of our Council if you wish to become more involved in the work of the Institute.
